Ultimate Franchise Fantasy Sports
7 min readJul 15, 2022

UFFS Community,

Ultimate Franchise Fantasy Sports continues to grow rapidly and is on the verge of making a major announcement concerning the next stage of the project. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!

In the meantime, we are excited to unveil a rebrand for our SCORE Coin (SCO) — the official currency of the UFFS platform.

SCO is the utility token within the UFFS ecosystem, including the professional fantasy leagues where there has been plenty more excitement over the past month, including the crowning of three new champions! Let’s take a look at the latest news and developments from the four major sports.

Hockey

The Ultimate Fantasy Hockey League recently wrapped up its third season — and first full campaign — with Rock Republic winning the Klein Cup as playoff champions after the Royals won the Founders’ Trophy for topping the regular-season standings.

The Royals were also the biggest winners at the UFHL’s annual awards ceremony, taking home the most hardware for their efforts on and off the ice.

And, thanks to some blockbuster trades that included parting with Matthew Tkachuk, the Royals walked away with first overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky from last weekend’s Entry Auction. Rock Republic may be getting their names engraved onto the Klein Cup but 2022 will go down as the year of the Royals!

Prior to that Entry Auction — our version of the NHL Entry Draft — the UFFS scouts released their consensus final rankings as a consolidated list featuring 102 prospects from seven contributors, along with scouting director Larry Fisher’s Top 225.

Now the franchises are in offseason mode, with the UFHL hosting a Free Agent Frenzy Auction this Sunday, followed by the annual Futures Auction on July 24 where UFFS scouts will be bidding to select prospects eligible for the 2025 NHL Draft.

This offseason will be busier than usual for the UFFS hockey community, with the World Juniors rescheduled for August and the revolutionary UFWJ league hosting a Supplementary Draft to replace the Russians and update their rosters ahead of that tournament.

That will be followed by the UFHL’s offseason meetings at the end of August and throughout September to set the stage for the 2022–23 season that starts on October 11.

Basketball

The inaugural UFBA season is in the books — and the 2021–22 UFBA champion are the Spitfire Aviators, owned by CFL Hall of Famer Nik Lewis, alongside General Manager Chris Crowl! Anchored by two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic in the regular season, and breakout star Jordan Poole all the way to the UFBA Finals, the Spitfire Aviators were one of the top-seeded teams all season long and ended the year by hoisting the trophy!

The year was wrapped up by Head of Sport Sho Alli with a recap on UFBA Today immediately following the conclusion of the playoffs:

With the NBA Draft in the books, the 2022 UFBA Entry Auction will take place this Sunday — and with the beginning of the new league year, a flurry of trades have already taken place, with five trades happening as soon as the league year began on July 1!

Finally, the UFWBA season continues as well — the Aurora and Bull City Blazers lead the way with identical 16–0 records to top their conferences, while the Sparrows made a massive trade, dealing away Brittney Griner and others to the Surge in exchange for Cheyenne Parker and WNBA legend Sue Bird!

American Football

College Football

The final piece to the UFF Sports American Football ecosystem is ready to roll out with the Ultimate College Fantasy Football League (UCFFL)!

18 franchises were auctioned off over the NFL Draft in April at a special UFF Sports event from the Circa Hotel in Las Vegas!

The UCFFL will deliver the most complete college fantasy football experience for owners. Scouts now have an opportunity to own a team, and also a new way to earn revenue through player leasing within the league.

Former NFL players Eric Metcalf, Walt Harris, Garrick Jones and Charles Stackhouse are all team owners and ready to build their dynasty! The first and only 36-round college player draft will take place this Saturday.

American Football Legends League

The inaugural American Football Legends League (AFLL) season wrapped up in June with the Golden Bowl championship. The Fury brought home the trophy as Randy Moss earned MVP honors in this unique eSports NFL legends video game simulation using Axis Football gameplay.

At the Golden Bowl, award-winning country band singer Mat Cardinal of The Prairie States sang the national anthems. Live play-by-play commentary was streamed on Twitch.tv by UFF Sports head of football Andy McNamara and former NFL Alumni executive Dan Esposito in what was an exciting finale to a successful first year.

Ultimate Fantasy American Football League

Preparation for Season 2 of the Ultimate Fantasy American Football League (UFAFL) is in full swing for the 32 franchises.

The new wave of rookie talent entering the NFL also found their UFAFL homes in the Entry Auction. Franchises spent an incredible $87,789 USD of SCO on 64 total players!

On the UFFS scouting platform, the Futures Auction saw 64 of the top college football players’ — and future UFAFL/NFL stars — fantasy rights acquired. A combined $15,760 USD of SCO was spent by scouts, who can now earn revenue on their players in the UCFFL while they await for them to turn pro.

Baseball

Happy belated Canada Day to my fellow Canadians and happy belated 4th of July to all Americans, and thank you all for doing what you do and will do in the future to help Ultimate Fantasy League Baseball (UFLB) continue to grow and be worthy of our goal as the highest stakes fantasy baseball league on Earth and the next best thing to owning and running an actual MLB franchise!

July brings a lot of MLB action, so July also brings a lot of UFLB action!

July brings the midway point of the season, which provides the franchises an opportunity to evaluate with a very legit sample size now, so they can deep dive to see where they are versus where they anticipated being, and have a good idea of how they want to attack their present and their future. So teams are busy!

Speaking of attacking their future, July is the month where MLB assigns amateurs from high schools, colleges, and other amateur baseball clubs to their MLB teams through their Entry Draft, so you know that means the UFLB follows suit! The MLB Entry Draft is July 17–19 and the UFLB Entry Draft (Auction! SCO will be flying fast and furious) is next Saturday, July 23, starting at 8 p.m. ET — and you can follow along LIVE on our Twitch channel (ultimatefantasysports) as we react in real time to the selections from the UFLB Draft! Little do these young men know that they are getting in on the ground floor of the best fantasy baseball league ever built!

July also brings the All-Star Game and we have exciting and fun content for our UFLB All-Stars as well! The UFLB content franchise-wide has gotten better and better as our overall presence on social media is growing and has us poised to put a great foot forward in the second half of the season, where we know a lot of new eyes will be on us thanks to a few exciting UFFS initiatives and upgrades!

July also sees Sunday nights become MLB Nights in our UFFS world, as the Legends Football (very successful) season is done now, so we will be increasing our value and attention in the baseball community by having MLB Watch Parties on our Twitch channel (ultimatefantasysports) for the MLB Sunday Night Game of the Week with great baseball guests joining us. If you are a baseball fan and you want to watch baseball on Sunday night, there is literally only one game on, so you will be watching that game — let’s watch it together and talk baseball!

Overall, the UFLB division races are c-o-m-p-e-t-i-t-i-v-e with every division having at least two teams in major contention and other divisions having three or four teams right there looking to be crowned. More than half of the league has now entered the 1,000s for UFLB fantasy points, and recently the Prairie Wheat Sox surpassed 1,500 UFLB fantasy points (No. 1 in the entire UFLB)! The entertainment value is high with the Devil Bears and Black Bears attempting to answer the question of “Which Bear is Best?” and both could surpass 1,500 fantasy points with a few good days as well. That rivalry is fuelled by the fact those Bears are in the same division as each other — the Roy Halladay Division — and have been separated by about 30–50 points for weeks now at the top of that division. Epic battle! Either could finish in the Top 3 for the entire UFLB and still not win their division…whoa!

As always thank you for getting caught up with developments within the ecosystem. We are always available for questions or any feedback from our incredible community.
